Joey Weissman Shines in Legendary PokerGO Cup Performance

Joey Weissman stole the spotlight at the 2025 PokerGO Cup with an exceptional series performance, even though Justin Zaki claimed victory in the eighth and final $25,200 No-Limit Hold’em event.

Weissman kicked off the series with a second-place finish to Michael Moncek in Event #1, only to exact revenge by defeating Moncek heads-up in Event #2. His remarkable run continued with two additional runner-up finishes, cementing one of the most impressive series showings in PokerGO Tour history.

As the final table commenced, Weissman had already secured the PokerGO Cup title with 758 points, leaving no suspense. Eric Blair (568 points) and Moncek (484 points) also achieved multiple event wins. Weissman’s stellar performance propelled him to the top of the 2025 PGT leaderboard, narrowly leading Kristen Foxen.

Zaki Triumphs in the Finale

The $25,200 No-Limit Hold’em event attracted 59 entrants, with seven players returning to the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas for Day 2. Weissman held the chip lead, closely followed by Zaki and Sam Soverel.

Jesse Lonis (7th – $59,000) and Michael Berk (6th – $81,125) were the first casualties, setting up a tense battle among the remaining players. Weissman gradually increased his chip lead, but Christian Roberts’ bluff against Zaki shifted the dynamics.

Zaki gained momentum, eliminating Roberts (5th – $110,625), Soverel (4th – $147,500), and Clemen Deng (3rd – $206,500) to reach heads-up play with a slight chip advantage over Weissman.

The final two players agreed to an ICM deal, with the winner receiving $417,000 and the runner-up taking $350,000. Zaki’s A♥10♦ secured a straight on the river, crippling Weissman’s stack and ultimately securing Zaki’s victory and the $417,000 top prize.

Weissman’s exceptional PokerGO Cup performance, including four final table appearances and 758 points, solidified his position atop the 2025 PGT leaderboard. Despite falling short in the finale, his legendary series run will be remembered as one of the most impressive in PokerGO Tour history.
