‘Guy at the Club Drinking’ Busts Phil Hellmuth in BetRivers Online Poker Tournament
Phil Hellmuth, a 17-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner and ambassador for BetRivers Casino, has been livestreaming his online poker sessions on BetRivers Poker this week. During one of his sessions, he reached the final table of a $100 no-limit hold’em tournament with only six players remaining.
In a heads-up pot against an opponent named “Regina 1,” Hellmuth found himself in a frustrating situation. With 7â™ 6♦, he called a min-raise from “Regina 1” on the small blind. The flop came 10♦6♣2♣, giving Hellmuth middle pair. “Regina 1” bet, and Hellmuth moved all-in, confident with his hand. However, “Regina 1” snap-called with K♣Kâ™ , holding the superior pair, and Hellmuth was eliminated in sixth place for $349.93.
Initially, Hellmuth was unaware of “Regina 1’s” identity, expressing disbelief at being busted by someone with such a username. Later, he received a call from his friend and fellow poker pro Brandon Cantu, who revealed that he was the one playing as “Regina 1” while at a club drinking.
Hellmuth praised the BetRivers software, noting its impressive features like tracking the percentage of hands played and three-bet. He also mentioned that his son, Phillip Hellmuth III, joined him for some tournaments, where the younger Hellmuth outperformed his father.
Hellmuth plans to continue streaming on BetRivers Poker, with his next session scheduled for Sunday, where he will be joined by fellow BetRivers ambassador Phil Galfond.
