GGPoker Experiences Major Technical Issues, Crashes During $5 Million Guaranteed Tournament

GGPoker, the online poker giant, faced significant technical difficulties on Sunday, leading to a crash during one of its biggest winter events, the $150 buy-in GGMasters Anniversary no-limit hold’em tournament with a $5 million guaranteed prize pool and over 20,000 entrants.

Kevin Martin, a GGPoker ambassador and former reality TV star, shared information he received from the site’s web developers with his social media followers. Martin, a poker pro and content creator, had been competing in and livestreaming the event when the crash occurred.

In response to the incident, GGPoker immediately informed its social media followers that they were “pausing all tournaments to stabilize gameplay.” The poker site apologized for the “sudden inconvenience” caused to players and addressed concerns regarding the safety of funds, assuring players that “all funds are safe.”

Martin provided further details, sharing a message he received from the site’s developers. The message stated, “We are currently experiencing a system issue that is unable to connect to the main lobby. The dev team is investigating now, and we will update the status. Due to unstable service conditions, all ongoing tournaments have been paused, and those scheduled to start have been canceled. If the server does not stabilize within five minutes, refunds will be issued for the ongoing tournaments.”

During his livestream on YouTube, Martin’s screen went blank around the 59-minute mark, and he informed his viewers that the site had crashed.

GGPoker provided an update on the situation within an hour, stating, “GGMasters Anniversary has been paused and will resume on March 2. All other tournaments have been canceled and will be refunded as per the cancellation policy.”

GGPoker, owned by NSUS Group, which recently acquired the World Series of Poker (WSOP) for $500 million, boasts the largest online poker cash game traffic globally.

This incident is an ongoing development, and PokerNews will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
