Dalton Hobold Etches Name in PokerStars History as Inaugural Phased Sunday Million Champion

Brazilian superstar Dalton “daltonhb” Hobold has secured his place in the PokerStars history books, becoming the first-ever champion of the Sunday Million Phased. PokerStars revamped the iconic weekly tournament by running several Day 1s throughout the week before culminating on February 23.

The phased format proved popular, attracting 12,858 entries and generating a $1,285,800 prize pool, making it one of the richest Sunday Millions in recent weeks and a fitting start to the Sunday Million Season. Hobold emerged victorious, turning his $109 buy-in into a substantial $93,042 payday.

1,369 players progressed to the final phase, with numerous poker luminaries among them, all guaranteed a portion of the prize pool and some also holding progressive bounties.

Notables like Patrick “thebigdog09” Brooks, Shawn “Buck21” Buchanan, and Charlie “JIZOINT” Combes made deep runs but fell short of the nine-handed final table.

Ukraine’s “Prosperous4” took $12,514 for seventh, while Romania’s “dekciww” finished sixth for $24,202. Austria’s “0indexed” collected $26,692 for fifth, and another Ukrainian “banz11” banked $38,649 for fourth.

The final three were all Brazilians, with “FEXX1” earning $56,357 for their third-place finish. Heads-up, Hobold overcame “8Sicchers8” who claimed $80,000 as the runner-up, while Hobold’s victory was worth $93,042 in total.

British Player “d5t6y7” Wins Irish Open Online Main Event

The $215 Irish Open Online Main Event at PokerStars attracted 1,633 entries for a $326,600 prize pool. Luminaries like Roman “RomeOpro” Romanovsky, Matt “MattStaples” Staples, Pedro “pm_marke” Marques, and Jeiko “JEIK0” Palma made the final two tables, with Palma busting tenth.

While capturing the Phased Sunday Million title, Dalton Hobold also made the Irish Open Online final table, finishing seventh for $6,498.

The top five finishers earned at least $12,789, with Sweden’s “davideriksso” taking that amount. Canada’s “ToDouxLeLoup” and Argentina’s “gonazr15” won $17,942 and $25,170 respectively before “d5t6y7” from the UK defeated Hungary’s “Vassalo” heads-up to claim the $49,536 top prize.
